Activity type

10-second test

Measure what stands out, confuses, or inspires trust before someone can interact with your design.

When to use a 10-second test

This format shines when you want to validate messaging, hero imagery, or overall tone. Participants see a page or screenshot for ten seconds and immediately answer short prompts.

What participants do

  1. Watch the screenshot or live URL you provide.
  2. Describe what they remember, how they feel, or what the product offers.
  3. Share expectations for what they would do next.

What you learn

You uncover whether people understand your value proposition, if the visuals match the copy, and whether the call-to-action stands out. Small tweaks to hierarchy can often lift conversion.

Good follow-up questions

  • "What do you think this company offers?"
  • "Which element stood out the most?"
  • "Is there anything that felt confusing or unexpected?"
